This page contains all of the original files. You are welcome to download them and use them for any non-commercial use; however, please remember that it took a considerable amount of time and effort to complete this work and you should not credit it as your own. Please apply the proper credits as needed if you use this information. This project was built as a hobby and there may be some unresolved issues; however, the units I have built work flawlessly. If you choose to use any of the information herein you do so at your own risk. Remember, an incorrect connection to your ignition system can damage it as well as this tachometer so read and think twice then connect it once!
Eagle Layout Editor is an excellent, high end, schematic capture and PCB program. They also offer a FREE version which is capable of producing a board 4 x 2" (the size of this one). I have an earlier licensed professional version; however, you can view and modify my files with the current free version. Once you do, I can no longer read or view them with my version and you may not be able to modify them again with the free version either. I recommend you save the original and work with a copy until you get that sorted out.
I used a .DXF utility in Eagle™ to export the originals to AutoCAD™ and then restructured the layers. If you use the AutoCAD™ files remember that you will need to precisely scale them for accurate PCB art. For home-made PCB's I find AutoCAD™ to be very easy to work with. If you obtain the freeware version of Eagle all you will need to do it print off your artwork on appropriate media.
UPDATE:
January 8, 2007
There was a problem with the input circuit for some ECU's. I changed a
resistor and resolved the issue. If you previously downloaded the
schematic or AutoCAD files you need to change R8 to 2K2. It was a 10K
before. The PCB is the same. I did not correct the AutoCAD drawings
so you will need to change that schematic for R8 also.
